Central Park is a metro park in midst Manhattan(NYC). Main Central Park is the popular city park in the USA as well as one of the most filmed spots in the world.
It’s recognized in 1857 on 778 miles of city owned location. In 1858, John Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, two soon to be popular nationwide landscapers and architects, won a design competitors to increase and enhance the park with plans they named the “Greensward Plan”. Development start the same year and the park’s first area was started out to the public during the winter season of 1858. Development ongoing during the American Civil War further southern, and extended to its current size of 843 miles in 1873.
It was select a National Historic Landmark in 1962. The park area handled for many years by the NYC Department of park and Recreation, and currently handled by the Central Park Conservancy Conservancy under agreement with the public government in a public-private collaboration.
Visitor attractions :
Statues : A total of 29 sculptures by sculptors such as Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Emma Stebbins and John Quincy Adams Ward have been erected over the years, most donated by individuals or organizations.
Structures and events :
Cleopatra’s Needle : a red marble obelisk. The “Cleopatra’s Needle” in Central Park is one of three, there also is one in Paris and one in London, which is one of a pair with the New York obelisk.
Strawberry Fields: On October 9, 1985, on what would have been John Lennon’s 45th birthday, New York City dedicate 2.5 acres to his memory.
Lakes : Central Park is home to 7th stream, all man-made.
Central Park is home to two indoor restaurants.
The well-known New York City eating place Tavern on the Green is situate on the park’s grounds at Central Park West and West 67th Street.
The Loeb Boathouse restaurant is the other indoor eating place in Central Park. Placed at the Loeb Boathouse on The Lake East Side between 74th and 75th Streets.
