Great Escape

Great Escape or Six Flags Great Escape is an amusement and water park held and managed by Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. It is place around 60 miles north of Albany, in Queensbury(NYC), but is advertise as being in Lake George, New York, a favorite tourist and holiday spot nearby. It is one of two Six Flags parks not to be officially branded with the “Six Flags” name.

In 1984, The Great Escape started out the Steamin’ Demon, the first of its eventual 7 roller coasters. The main interest at The Great Escape is the Comet. Re-opened at The Great Escape in 1994, this roller coaster already had a 41-year history as The Comet at Crystal Beach.Xtreme Supernova at Great Escape

The park launched several new features for the 2006 season. These integrated character greetings from the likes of the whole Justice League. In improvement to regular amusement park rides, the Great Escape provides a wide range of exclusive shows, most significant of which is a high dive show featuring a team of divers scaling an 80 feet tower and plunging into a 10 feet deep pool.

During the 2005 season, the park launched a new line queuing system, the “Go Fast Pass”. For $45, guests can use Go Fast Passes on particular rides including the Comet, Alpine Bobsled, Desperado Plunge, Raging River, Canyon Blaster, Thunder Alley, Swan Boats, Bumper Cars, Steamin Demon, Boomerang and Sasquatch.

Getting at:

ALBANY, NY — 50 miles : Take I-87 North to Exit 20. Travel south on Route 9 approximately 1/4 mile and turn right onto Six Flags Drive.

BOSTON, MA — 220 miles : Take I-90 West (Mass Turnpike) to Exit B1. Follow I-90 to I-87 (Albany). Continue north on I-87 to exit 20. Travel south on Route 9 approximately 1/4 mile and turn right onto Six Flags Drive.

NEW YORK CITY — 210 miles : Take I-87 North (NYS Thruway) to exit 24 to Albany. Continue North on I-87 to Exit 20. Travel south on Route 9 approximately 1/4 mile and turn right onto Six Flags Drive.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC — 175 miles : Take I-87 South (Adirondack Northway) to Exit 20. Travel south on Route 9 approximately 1/4 mile and turn right onto Six Flags Drive.

BUFFALO, NY — 310 miles : Take I-90 East (NYS Thruway) to exit 24 to Albany. At Albany, continue north on I-87 (Adirondack Northway) to Exit 20. Travel south on Route 9 approximately ¼ mile and turn right onto Six Flags Drive.
