National Space Centre

The National Space Centre is one of the UK major tourist attractions that is dedicated to space science and astronomy. It is placed in the city of Leicester, England. The Centre was made by Nicholas Grimshaw, and it opened to the community on 30 June 2001.

The centre has 6 main exhibits and visitor activities covering space flight, astronomy and cosmology. The attraction also contains a Digistar 3 dome cinema and planetarium, a gift shop and a restaurant. The restaurant situated beneath the two nozzles of the Blue Streak and PGM-17 Thor rockets.

Getting at National Space Centre :

By Car : The National Space Centre located just off the A6, two miles north of Leicester City Centre, midway between Leicester’s inner and outer ring roads. Brown road signs with a distinctive rocket logo will direct you from the arterial routes around Leicester.

By Bus : First Bus 54 runs every 10 mins throughout the day Monday to Saturday and every 20 mins on Sunday running from 9.30am. The bus stop is only 2 minute’s walk away from the National Space Centre.

By Rail : East Midland Trains and Cross Country Trains serve Leicester Station. From here you can either take a bus or a taxi to the National Space Centre. First bus 54 runs every 10 minutes Monday to Saturday and every 20 minutes on Sunday from Charles Street, a short walk from the station.

Saturday & Sunday 10:00 – 17:00
CLOSED – 05.12.16
The National Space Centre will be closing at 16:00 on the following dates: Saturday 10th September, Saturday 17th September, Sunday 18th December.
