The Royal Palace of Madrid (Palacio Real de Madrid) is the official home of the Spanish Royal Family members at the city of Madrid, But is only used for state events. King Felipe VI and the Royal Family do not live in the palace, selecting preferably the more modest Palacio de la Zarzuela on the border of Madrid.
This Royal palace is 135,000 square meters of floorspace and has 3,418 rooms. It is the biggest royal palace in Europe by floor area. The interior of the palace is famous for its prosperity of art and the use of many kinds of fine components in the development and the design of its rooms. These consist of artwork by painters such as Caravaggio, Velazquez and Francisco de Goya and frescoes by Corrado Giaquinto, Juan de Flandes, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo and Anton Raphael Mengs.
Other series of excellent historic and creative significance stored in the building consist of the Royal Armoury of Madrid, Porcelain, Watches, Furniture, Silverware and the world’s only complete Stradivarius cord quintet.
